The Highest Concentration Oxygen Delivery for Hyperbaric Chamber Use
The BIBs (Built-In Breathing System) Demand Mask is the gold standard for hyperbaric oxygen delivery. Unlike open-flow masks and cannulas that let oxygen escape into the chamber environment, the BIBs demand mask delivers 95–100% FiO2 directly to the user with a sealed face-cup design and demand-based flow regulation. Every breath draws pure oxygen on demand — no waste, no dilution, no leaked oxygen accumulating inside your chamber.
This is the same oxygen delivery method used in commercial dive chambers and clinical multiplace hyperbaric systems from Perry Baromedical, Sechrist, and Amron — but at a fraction of the cost, with premium comfort upgrades designed specifically for personal and clinical hyperbaric therapy.
Why the BIBs Demand Mask Is Optimized for Hyperbaric Chamber Use
Highest possible oxygen concentration. BIBs is the only mask design that reliably delivers 95–100% FiO2 during a hyperbaric session. Non-rebreather masks max out around 90%. Nasal cannulas peak around 44%. If your goal is maximum oxygen saturation in blood plasma — the fundamental therapeutic mechanism of HBOT — nothing outperforms a properly-sealed BIBs demand mask.
Vented exhaust improves chamber safety. BIBs exhaust vents route your exhaled oxygen-rich air out of the chamber, keeping ambient chamber oxygen levels below 23%. This is critical for fire safety in any oxygen-enriched environment — a key advantage over open-face masks that dump exhaled oxygen back into the chamber atmosphere.
Demand-flow regulation eliminates waste. Traditional continuous-flow masks consume oxygen whether you're inhaling or not. BIBs demand regulators open only when you inhale, cutting oxygen consumption dramatically and extending the life of your oxygen concentrator and tanks. For clinics running multiple sessions daily, the concentrator savings alone can pay for the mask upgrade in months.
Prestige quality upgrades vs. standard BIBs masks:
- Softer medical-grade silicone face seal — comfortable for full 60–90 minute HBOT sessions (competitor BIBs masks often use harder rubber that leaves red marks and pressure points)
- Upgraded soft-elastic head strap — no more digging hard-plastic buckles into the back of the head
- Improved exhaust valve design — quieter operation, reduces the "airplane oxygen mask" whistling common in cheaper BIBs units
- Adult universal fit — accommodates most face sizes with adjustable strap
FiO2 Performance Chart
| Oxygen Flow Rate (LPM) | Delivered FiO2 | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 5 LPM | 95% | Minimum flow for effective demand response |
| 10 LPM | 97% | Standard home HBOT setup |
| 15 LPM | 98% | Optimal for most therapeutic protocols |
| 20 LPM | 99% | Recommended for clinical-grade sessions |
| 25+ LPM | ~100% | Maximum concentration — clinical use |

The BIBs Advantage in Practice
Imagine a 90-minute HBOT session at 1.5 ATA with 10 LPM oxygen flow:
| Mask Type | FiO2 Delivered | Effective PaO2 in Plasma |
|---|---|---|
| Nasal cannula | ~40% | Modest — supplemental only |
| Simple face mask | ~55% | Moderate therapeutic effect |
| Non-rebreather mask | ~85% | Strong therapeutic effect |
| BIBs Demand Mask | ~97% | Maximum therapeutic effect |
Replacement Schedule
For optimal safety, hygiene, and oxygen delivery efficiency, we recommend replacing your mask at least once every 30 days with regular use. High-frequency users (daily sessions) or clinical operators should replace more often. Masks are single-patient devices — do not share between users.
Signs your mask needs replacement:
- Discoloration or yellowing of the plastic or rubber
- Cracking, stiffening, or loss of pliability in seals
- Any tear, hole, or damage to the reservoir bag or tubing
- Loss of head-strap elasticity
- Persistent odor after cleaning

Backed by Peer-Reviewed Research
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy works because pressurized oxygen dissolves into blood plasma at levels far higher than normal breathing allows — reaching tissues that regular circulation cannot. The efficiency of that oxygen delivery depends heavily on the mask and delivery system used inside the chamber.
